New snow Tuesday night through Wednesday will increase the avalanche danger. Instabilities are still expected to be limited to new snow received since last Thursday but with up to 9″ forecast for town through Wednesday, and likely significantly higher amounts accumulating in the mountains, soft slabs well over a foot deep (and possibly up to a few feet deep in the upper elevations on leeward slopes) may be sensitive to human triggering through Wednesday.
We will provide a more thorough update as time and conditions permit.
For now, it’s time to be on point with your avalanche game if you’re visiting backcountry avalanche terrain. Follow safe travel protocols and conduct your own assessment of conditions accordingly.
