Public Observation: Upper South Fork Eagle River
Headed back for an attempt on “The Prism” on Triangle Peak, but turned away due to dangerous avalanche conditions and a looming cornice.
There’s a substantial cornice looming over the whole route; it would not take much to get swept off your feet.
The snow was whoomphing on us all day, and we eventually saw the consequence. We remote triggered an avalanche from the drainage floor. The crown ranged from 1-3′ deep and around 100′ wide. Luckily enough, it was slow moving and we were able to ski out of the way.
