Observations
Front Range:
Nordic skied Middle Fork Loop from Basher. Great snow and conditions below 1500′. Between 1500-2000′ snow was VERY wind affected (cornices, wind lips, sastrugi, anti-tracks, scoured) and had been lightly rained on. It was developing a rain crust as temperatures were cooling with the setting sun.
Observed numerous recent small natural loose snow avalanches on steep, upper elevation terrain.
Wind could be heard howling in the upper elevations, but was pleasant all the way up to Glen Alps trailhead elevation.
