April 16, 2018 Recent natural wet avalanches off Hope Mountain (Pt 4630) up Rabbit Creek. This wet slab released at ~4100’ SW aspect and was triggered by a wet loose #avalanche (aka point release) from wet #snow near warming rock at ~4400’. WS-N-D2-R2-G running ~800’. Numerous large, destructive, and potentially deadly wet slabs observed (from North Suicide and South Powerline Peaks) on south and west aspects up Indian Creek. Be mindful of wet avalanche danger! Many popular trails in #ChugachStatePark cross potentially dangerous and deadly avalanche paths and runouts. You may be exposed even if you’re on a flat and snow-free trail; be mindful of steep and snowy slopes above you – especially later in the day as they bake in the sun!
