Observations

It’s harvest season in #ChugachStatePark. Should be some ripe corn this weekend, but timing is everything in terms of riding conditions and #avalanche danger. Keep in mind that north of #TurnagainArm and the Front Range (which spans from Indian Creek to Ship Creek), from South Fork Eagle River area to the Knik, the snowpack structure is much more suspect in terms of stability (perhaps the worst it has been in decades). It’ll be especially prudent to get off and away from solar aspects before they get too cooked by the sun and prone to avalanche. Large and dangerous natural and human triggered wet slabs are likely later in the day. These avalanches are likely to rip out the entire snowpack down to the ground. If you’re #hiking, get out early for efficient travel on the frozen #snow and get away from avalanche terrain before things soften up too much. By the time you’re postholing and/or wallowing in wet, gloppy snow avalanche danger has increased dramatically.
