Gordon Lyon #snowpit at ~3900’, 274* W aspect, 40* slope, ~180cm HS, ECTP8 sudden collapse down ~20cm (6cm F-4F loose snow at surface, 14cm 1F recent wind packed slab, few mm persistent weak layer of facets and surface hoar, 1F+ faceting old wind packed bed surface). Must be in #Merica to go back and forth between #imperial and #metric… 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 2. Map with snowpit location 3. So much whumphing… 4. The #snowpack is very acoustic and the energy of some collapses could be felt radiating out from trigger point… Approach steep terrain with serious caution, and stay safe out there this #weekend. #sketchyaf
