#SoFo obs today: most prolific whumphing I’ve experienced in my #backcountry career. Collapses on the Ship Creek side of North Bowl and near French Bowl felt like seismic waves, shaking alders and vegetation. Wind slabs from last week’s new snow and wind have formed persistent slabs on depth hoar with crazy energy. Slabs half the size of a football field cracked out, and upslope propagation traveled for many yards. Also pictured is the remote skier triggered persistent slab (HS-ASr-D2-R2-O) from yesterday on a cross loaded slope off the Nipple at ~3600’ NNE aspect running for ~700’.
