Pinnacle #snowpit today: ~5100’, SW aspect, ~40* slope, ECTX. #HatcherPass #Alaska

The north winds picked up for awhile today at #HatcherPass #Alaska, complicating #skiing and #avalanche conditions. We encountered several fresh wind slabs (very small and thin), and a lot of thin shooting cracks. The wind loaded snow is not bonding well to the exposed icy crusts and faceted snow surface (that has resulted from the clear and cold conditions the past few days).
