November 12, 2017 Pinnacle #snowpit today: ~5100’, SW aspect, ~40* slope, ECTX. #HatcherPass #Alaska A post shared by Anchorage Avalanche Center (@anchorage_avalanche_center) on Nov 12, 2017 at 9:02pm PST The north winds picked up for awhile today at #HatcherPass #Alaska, complicating #skiing and #avalanche conditions. We encountered several fresh wind slabs (very small and thin), and a lot of thin shooting cracks. The wind loaded snow is not bonding well to the exposed icy crusts and faceted snow surface (that has resulted from the clear and cold conditions the past few days).
