December 2, 2018 View this post on Instagram Some #wilderness therapy was warranted for @anchorage_avalanche_center volunteers and public school teachers after the shakedown left classrooms destroyed and school cancelled for a week. Very thankful for the sturdy classroom tables at a local high school that saved both teacher and students. We spent a few days trusting our lives to @blackdiamond gear out in the hinterlands of #McCarthy and #Chitina (truly magical places of winter solace). A couple WI3+ to WI4 lines are in near the #Kuskalana bridge, with plenty of easier lines as well. Crystalline (aka Marble) Falls are in and currently #climbing at WI4. #Chitina Route is in, but the upper pitch is climbing like heady WI4+. All of these routes go with a single 70m. Chitina Route can be climbed in 3 pitches with a 70m, and descended in just 3 rappels (with some easy down climbing). Liberty Falls Rec Site was still accessible for camping, as was One Mile Lake near the base of Chitina Route at the 32 mile mark on the Edgerton. MXY Road is currently a burly drive.
