February 2, 2019 View this post on Instagram We squeezed in one more big survey of #Chugach #FRange terrain post stormy weather earlier this week and pre stormy weather arriving tonight. We triggered a very small wind slab at ~4800’ N aspect on Avalanche Mountain, found a lot of stale old wind slab, and observed a few D2 persistent slabs that were triggered naturally by the stormy weather earlier this week. Avalanche danger is expected to increase significantly with new #snow and wind forecast tonight and tomorrow. Big thanks to @voilemfg and @blackdiamond for the super svelte gear that makes these big missions deep into the Western Chugach #wilderness possible. The Voilé Hyper Vector #ski and Black Diamond Helio 180 binding is definitely Mat’s all-time favorite ski setup. Go #USA ski alpinism! Thanks to @bald32 for the rally. #FRangeLove #Randoism #CelebrateCreation #EarthEcstasy A post shared by Anchorage Avalanche Center (@anchorage_avalanche_center) on Feb 2, 2019 at 8:59pm PST
