February 24, 2019 View this post on Instagram Small, human triggered #avalanche in the Front Range of the Western #Chugach #Mountains yesterday (Sunday, February 24): Wolverine Peak, ~3500’, south aspect, crown max depth ~8” and ~50’ wide, ran ~500’, recent windslab with low energy, #skier escaped easily, observer reported noteworthy warming and the sun having a significant effect on solar aspects. This observation is evidence that instabilities lurk, which could be high consequence depending on the terrain. Big thanks to the involved party for sharing the report!#FRangeLove #ChugachStatePark #Anchorage #Alaska A post shared by Anchorage Avalanche Center (@anchorage_avalanche_center) on Feb 25, 2019 at 9:02am PST
