Western Chugach, Chugach State Park, Seward Highway
The Seward Highway ice climbing between Anchorage and Girdwood is all-time and FAT. We climbed Candyland after work. Even the typically thin roadcut ledge top-outs between pitches on Candyland had plenty of ice for solid sticks (after cleaning off snow and bashing away rotten ice). It seems like many rarely formed climbs are also “in” and FAT! The snowpack at sea level is also quite deep relative to the past several snow seasons.
